If you are not familiar with the Georgetown General Store and your first contact with us is online: We would be pleased to hear from you! Please let us know what your needs and questions are, we will be more than happy to help.

In brief, you should know the following about us: The Georgetown General Store first opened its doors in 1876 to great flourish and fanfare. During those years, along with the butcher the baker and local pub, the towns people of Georgetown began to prosper.

The township of Georgetown thrived in the early years and it was envisaged to be a 'little Adelaide' with street layout and names similar to that city. But around 1870 politics and the realigning of the railway line from Adelaide through Jamestown and Caltowie to Port Pirie brought growth to a stand still.

The town now survives with a core of farmers who work the plains in the nearby area, their children attend the local primary school and they all continue to patronise the General Store!

Now you can stop in for a fresh espresso coffee and a slice of cake while restocking a few basics on your travels. Our regular customers particularly value the coffee and a chat when they come in for their daily paper.

The Georgetown General Store is located in the heart of the town.  On the corner of Fisher and Pitt Street.
